ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Relining Company had the honour of working on the famous Vaucluse house in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. This property has been the heart of the eastern suburbs since 1915 and remains an iconic Gothic Revival mansion nestled in 10 hectares on Sydney Harbour. However, old homes and buildings in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs means old pipes, and tree roots.

THE PROBLEM
Tree roots were growing through the joints of the old terracotta pipes, causing the drains to continuously surcharge. This property now gets used for functions and weddings so the owners wanted to ensure the drains were flushing in their correct manner with no surprises.

HOW WE FIXED IT
After discovering a hidden pit below ground we accessed the pipes and high pressure cleaned the drains to remove the tree roots from within the pipe. Once the drain was cleaned we relined the pipe using our inversion lining method which created a new water tight seal within the old terracotta pipes.
Blocked pipes from tree roots is a common problem in Vaucluse, luckily it’s handled easily with pipe relining. Check out the video below to see how we did.
