Residential Project

Wolaroi Crescent, Tamarama

A pipe relining employee going underground with pipes

About the project:

Ed has a waterfront home located next to Tamarama Beach that was renovated a few years back. They experienced a bad sewer smell, which, not long after, led to a blocked toilet. When we attended the property, we were able to partially unblock the drain using a high-pressure water jet blaster. We then CCTV inspected the pipe to find that the boundary trap was blocked with concrete and tile grout from the original renovation, which could not be removed. The only option was to excavate and replace the pipe.

The Problem:

The pipe in this area was 4m deep in sand and had a large tree next to the pipe that we were concerned would fall over due to the depth of the hole. As the house was located on sand, we had to be strategic on how we would repair the pipe in a safe manner.

How we fixed it:

Using Timber shoring, we safely barricaded the area during the excavation process to protect the trench from caving in and the tree from falling down. Once we got down to the 4m depth, we replaced the pipe with a new PVC pipe and raised an inspection opening back to ground level for future access.
